Happy Valentine’s Day!! For those of you who celebrate this annual holiday and day of romance, I hope your day was just a little extra special and filled with love as I hope it is every day! What does everyone have planned? We decided last minute to go out for some sushi tonight so I’m really looking forward to that!
In honor of Valentine’s Day, I wanted to share my favorite jumpsuit that I bought just before Vegas last summer! It’s definitely one of my favorite pieces. Red is one of my favorite colors and is always a great color option when you want to stand out. Red is a bold and intense color associated with strength, power, passion, love, romance and desire which is why it is the predominant color associated with Valentine’s Day. According to science, red enhances men’s attraction towards women. So ladies, if you’re single and ready to mingle or want to turn up the heat with your significant other, don’t be afraid to add this bold and sexy color to your wardrobe.
This red hot number was an online purchase from Lulus last summer which has since sold out, but I’ve found several similar options for you and if you’re looking for a black jumpsuit, you can see my previous post here! xx
Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! February is already going by fast and Valentine’s Day is just a few days away so I wanted to share a few gift ideas just for her at various price points for under $50, under $100 and $100+.
John and I don’t typically exchange Valentine’s Day gifts unless it’s something little such as a picture frame with a photo of us, a card and/or flowers (I’ll usually put my art and craft skills to use and make something for him while sending flowers to my mom because she loves flowers), but if you are looking for gift ideas for any special lady in your life such as your mom, bestie, sister, aunt, girlfriend, spouse, etc., you can use my Valentine’s Day gift ideas to help make your shopping less stressful. xx
And the winner is……Kristi Schuster!!! Kristi, I hope you’re as excited to receive your 50 ROSES for Valentine’s Day as I am to gift them to you! I’m so grateful to all of you for following along, always engaging with me and for your thoughtful comments and messages. It really does mean a lot! Kristi, I hope you love your flowers and cheers to you, girl!! xx
Happy first day of February (a.ka. the month of love and my birth month)! February is the month we slowly begin to transition from those short and gloomy winter days, bulkier fabrics and dark colors into somewhat longer, sunnier days and retailers begin to add pastel tones and bright colors in their stores as we slowly, but surely get ready for spring in the coming months. In my opinion, February and May seem to be two of the more “feminine” months of the year. All through February you’ll see pretty shades of pink, red and white associated with Valentine’s Day and then May is typically associated with Mother’s Day, floral print and light fabrics as we prepare for summer.
Before I transition my Instagram feed into shades of pink and red for the rest of the month, I wanted to share my top four retailers that I purchase most of my winter coats from and the best time to shop and stock up on winter apparel for next year.
All of January and the beginning of February is the best time to get all of your winter clearance items and stock up on your favorite outerwear pieces because retailers have a ton of sales as they’re trying to make room for their spring collection. I do find great deals during Cyber Monday week, but I tend to find January the best time to shop for winter apparel. My top four favorite retailers for outerwear pieces are Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom. While I tend to go back and forth between these four retailers primarily, I tend to find the best deals on outerwear at Macy’s because they’re constantly running sales and have weekly coupons which can give you additional savings of 25-30% off already reduced prices. I’ll typically snag maybe 3-4 new winter coats each year.
Macy’s, Lord & Taylor and Bloomingdale’s are the most comparable in price, as opposed to Nordstrom which carries some of the same pieces, but tends to be on the pricier side. However, all four retailers are willing to price match if you find the same item in your size at a different store. These four go-to retailers have really good return policies and almost always offer free shipping. Bloomingdale’s and Lord & Taylor are both in the ShopRunner network which is an online company that offers Free 2-day shipping with a small annual fee.
What are some of your favorite places to shop for winter coats?
Today is one of the coldest days in Chicago and I’m so thankful to have the day off to be able to stay inside all day. If you have to go out at all, I hope you’re bundled up and don’t have to spend too much time out there!
I’m a big fan of faux-fur coats in the winter months because they can instantly make your winter outfit look super chic. If I’m investing in a staple piece that I’ll have for many years to come, I don’t mind splurging a bit especially on outwear pieces, denim and handbags, but there have been many times where I’ve found really good quality pieces for less (like the coat I’m wearing that was on sale for under $50). With that being said, I’m sharing 10 leopard faux-fur coats for under $100 (2 under $50) and a few just over to add to your wardrobe now! We still have 2 more months of winter and now is the perfect time to stock up on winter clearance items, particularly coats.
