Can you believe we’re just a few days away from Thanksgiving?! Neither can I. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday, but it’s starting to feel like it’s almost forgotten with all the Christmas hype already. We usually wait to put our tree up until the day after Thanksgiving, but I’ve been in the festive mood since last week so we went ahead and put our tree up yesterday. Last year we purchased a brand new Christmas tree so we were definitely looking forward to putting it up sooner than later. We still have to get a garland for our fireplace mantle along with a couple more items, but overall we keep it pretty simple with our holiday decor. How about you? Have you put your tree up yet or are you going to wait until this weekend?
Since I’m in the holiday spirit already, I’m sharing my first gift guide of the season with you and what better gift guide than a cozy one perfect for those days when you just want to lounge around at home in front of the fireplace.
It’s Just Another Manic Monday! I hope you’ve all had a great weekend! It’s cold and snowy today so what better day than today to share this edgy winter look which consists of my new faux fur leopard print coat I purchased on sale at H&M recently for $40!! It was right after Christmas and everything was marked down in the store and I just had to have it.
I’ve mentioned before that leopard is one of my favorite prints because it’s classic and can be considered a neutral. It can easily make a simple outfit pop, particularly an all black outfit. It can also be especially sexy against a pop of red; maybe I’ll put together a V-Day look for you and share it next week. I would highly recommend purchasing a leopard print coat to add to your wardrobe. I’ve found a few similar styles for you to shop below.
Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all had a great weekend. I had taken a little break from working on my blog recently and so I finally shot some new outfit photos yesterday for the upcoming week after a two month break. It’s easy to lose motivation and fall out of routine, but I’ve learned in order to be successful in any hobby or job you’re doing, you do have to stay consistent and keep at it even on the days you really don’t want to. It is OK to take time for yourself to recharge when necessary though so don’t beat yourself up if you find yourself struggling to stay motivated. Life happens.
Today I’m sharing one of my favorite winter coats with all of you, the Marla Shawl-Collar Wrap coat by T Tahari. I asked for this coat for Christmas a couple of years ago after seeing a friend of mine wearing it and it’s one of my all-time favorite outwear pieces. I actually just received it in black this past Christmas because I’ve been needing a new black coat and I just love this style. The oversized shawl collar that drapes over the shoulders is what really makes this beautiful coat stand out. It hits just above the knee and has a wrap belt that cinches the waist for a fitted and classic look. It comes in several different colors, but the merlot is my personal favorite.
Macy’s, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s all have several in stock and in different price ranges. Bloomingdale’s carries it in black and mink and it retails for only $85 with their current sale!! Macy’s also has a winter sale and it’s just under $190 while Nordstrom retails it for $229. I know, what the heck?!! I’ll let you in on a little secret though. Most retailers price match so if you prefer one retailer over another, as long as they have the same size and color available as the store with the lowest price, they’ll honor that lower price. 🙂
Is anyone else struggling with those post-holiday blues? The first week of January is always a struggle to get back into routine after two months-worth of holiday parties and social events while having those extra days off from work, but I’m slowly getting there. It’s a short four day work week for me and it’s still pretty quiet in the office so it makes it a tad easier to transition into the new year.
Last January I shared some of my favorite highlights of 2016, but I haven’t had a chance to write one up for 2017 just yet; I’m hoping to do so before the end of the week. I do think it’s important to reflect on the year that was to see how you’ve changed or grown and/or what accomplishments or achievements you may have completed or attained. I also enjoy reading everyone else’s year in review and feeling inspired. What were some of your favorite 2017 highlights and/or goals for the new year?
Isn’t it ironic how I just wrote a post about how much I love an off-the-shoulder neckline and how sexy and flirty it is yet here I am all covered up, head to toe, in boots, jeans and a long sleeve turtleneck? Well, if you read my previous post, then you’d know that I mentioned I like wearing turtlenecks just as much as OTS necklines. It’s just a different kind of look yet both are fun and flirty in their own ways.
This is by far one of my favorite fall/winter looks. It’s just so classic, sophisticated and elegant. Statement sleeves have been quite popular this year (e.g. balloon, flare, bell, ruffled) and I particularly love flare and bell sleeves. It makes a simple top really stand out. Plus, I’m a fan of 70s fashion and you’re just taking a classic and casual look and giving it a trendy twist. What’s one fashion trend you love most?
