Mellow Yellow

“They call me mellow yellow…” Ha! Get it? Pun of the day. 🙂 Anyway, happy Thursday (and almost Friday)!! I’m so ready for the weekend even though I just took yesterday off to run some errands, get my hair done and finally decorate our front door entry for the season (you can catch a sneak peek on my Instagram). I feel like some days there just isn’t enough time in the day to get everything done so having an extra day off really makes a difference. Anyone else feel like the corporate work week should only be 4 days instead of 5?!

On another note, how cute is this cozy sweater I’m wearing? It also comes in white and I particularly love the flare sleeves and oversized fit in addition to the criss cross detail in the back. I know yellow isn’t always the most flattering color and it’s one I’d prefer to only wear with a sun-kissed summer glow so I don’t look completely washed out (well, except in today’s post), however, mustard/golden yellow like the one I’m wearing is definitely more forgiving and flattering on different skin tones. I’m sure you’ve seen quite a bit of yellow trending this year so if you don’t usually flock towards such a bright color, I’d definitely suggest this warm hue or a pastel yellow over neon.

Shades of Brown and Flare Sleeves

Because it wouldn’t feel like fall if you didn’t have this flare sleeve sweater hanging in your closet.

I love anything that reminds me of autumn, particularly a warm rich color palette in shades of deep red or burgundy, gold, olive green and brown so of course I couldn’t pass up this cozy knit in rustic brown for $39!

It’s such a great piece for the season with its lightweight fabric and flare sleeves which are always fun because they remind me of the 70s. The sweater does run a little big so you’re able to wear it off the shoulder if you prefer and if you’re not a fan of the color brown, it does comes in teal and lavender as well.

Fall Neutrals and Earthy Tones

Neutral and earthy tones are my year-round go-to colors with olive green probably being my favorite. I think this shade of green looks great on almost everyone, particularly on those with golden or olive skin tones. Olive green undoubtedly stands out against white or black, but it also pairs well with gray, camel or light pink as you can see in one of my previous posts here.

In today’s post I’m pairing an olive green top with one of my favorite white jeans and a trench coat for a casual look, perfect for those milder days. We’ve definitely lucked out with a warmer than average fall, but I’m not sure how much longer we’ll be able to pull off open toe shoes and/or sandals. On those rainy and gloomy days, I would just swap out white jeans for a black pair and slip on a pair of leopard print flats or taupe booties for a more fall-like look.

P.S. The unwritten “no white after Labor Day” rule doesn’t exist so don’t be afraid to wear your white jeans this season, weather permitting of course.

Have a good rest of the week!

Weekday Casual

As we enter a new week, I’m sharing a casual weekday look that you can wear to the office and/or while running errands for $150, head to toe!

The “frayed” or “raw” hem trend has been really popular this year so I couldn’t pass up these khaki skinny jeans from Zara which are perfect for fall, particularly if you like shades of olive or sage green. They’re just under $50 and come in three colors. My button down shirt from Target is a wardrobe staple with its relaxed fit while still giving off that polished look for just under $23 and my faux suede pumps from ASOS are $40. LOFT is currently offering 40% off all full-price items and an additional 60% off all sale items making my necklace and aviator sunglasses just under $40 for both. As always, I’ve linked similar styles below.

Have a great week!

Sweater Weather

It’s all about the sweater weather, finally! I shared this look back in May when it was still cool out so I’m going to reshare it since it’s perfect for fall. Just throw on an oversized sweater, denim and heels/booties for a casual and cozy everyday look.

Have a good day! xo
