Is anyone else struggling with those post-holiday blues? The first week of January is always the toughest to get back into routine after two months-worth of holiday parties/social events and having those extra couple of days off from work, but I’m slowly getting there. It’s a short four day work week for me and it’s still pretty quiet in the office so it makes it a tad easier to transition into the new year.
Last January I shared some of my favorite highlights of 2016, but I haven’t had a chance to write one up for 2017 just yet; I’m hoping to do so before the end of the week. I do think it’s important to reflect on the year that was to see how you’ve changed or grown and/or what accomplishments or achievements you may have completed or attained. I also enjoy reading everyone else’s year in review and feeling inspired. What were some of your favorite 2017 highlights and/or goals for the new year?
Hi, friends! Happy Thursday! If you’re still searching for outfit ideas for NYE, I’m sharing a holiday glam look that’s simple yet stylish, but not too over the top. Perfect for going out to dinner or a house party.
Leather pants/leggings are a great alternative to regular pants and can make your outfit look sleek and edgy. I threw on a black turtleneck top with flare sleeves and a faux fur stole in dark green to offset the all black and just threw on some statement jewelry to make the outfit pop even more. NYE has always been one of my favorite holidays because you can get all decked out and go extra with your makeup and accessories without feeling like you’ve overdone it. Just go out with a boom!
Isn’t it ironic how I just wrote a post about how much I love an off-the-shoulder neckline and how sexy and flirty it is yet here I am all covered up, head to toe, in boots, jeans and a long sleeve turtleneck? Well, if you read my previous post, then you’d know that I mentioned I like wearing turtlenecks just as much as OTS necklines. It’s just a different kind of look yet both are fun and flirty in their own ways.
This is by far one of my favorite fall/winter looks. It’s just so classic, sophisticated and elegant. Statement sleeves have been quite popular this year (e.g. balloon, flare, bell, ruffled) and I particularly love flare and bell sleeves. It makes a simple top really stand out. Plus, I’m a fan of 70s fashion and you’re just taking a classic and casual look and giving it a trendy twist. What’s one fashion trend you love most?
Winter is coming! And it’s going to be a long one. *sigh The temperature literally dropped 30 degrees over night. I was just at the Christkindl Market last night with a few local blogger babes in jeans and a sweater, but then this morning I had to bundle up in a heavy coat, scarf and a hat on my way out. Well, it was nice while it lasted, but at least I have the next few months to wear cute and cozy chunky knits!
More often than not you’ll see me in off-the-shoulder sweaters and turtlenecks over crew neck pullovers or cardigans. I think I probably own only one cardigan. They look so cute on everyone else, but I feel as if they look awkward on me or maybe I just don’t know how to wear them? An off-the-shoulder neckline is a fun and flirty way to show off a little bit of skin without being too revealing. There’s just something sexy about showing off your décolletage, don’t you think?
I found this OTS sweater at Forever 21 recently and I must say it’s definitely a new favorite. It’s so cozy and comfortable and I particularly love winter white especially around the holidays. It’s just so pretty and feminine. Plus, white goes with everything. I’ve linked my exact sweater and a few other OTS favorites below.
Yikes! Has it been almost four weeks since I’ve last written a post? I only have weekends to shoot photos for my blog and unfortunately we’ve had some lousy weather with rain three weekends in a row which has contributed to my lack of content, but here I am!!!
Since I’m totally obsessed with stripes and OTS tops, I wanted to share this cute OTS sweater with slit sleeves that I recently purchased from Forever 21. Yes, I still shop some contemporary brands for tops and accessories since sometimes you can get just as good of quality or better as you would at Nordstrom or other high end retailers, but for a little less. No shame in my game.
Anyway, don’t you just love when you step into a store and almost instantly something catches your eye as if it was meant just for you and then you’re ready to check out because you weren’t planning on shopping there anyway?? Lol Maybe it’s just me, but that’s what happened when I found my sweater recently while I was just passing through and did I mention it’s under $20! My camel fringe oblong scarf is also from Forever and is only 15! My double-o ring belt from Express was on sale for $25 a couple of weeks ago, but it’s still a good deal for $40! It’s a stylish and much cheaper alternative to this Gucci Double G buckle belt that I’ve been wanting (it’s on my Christmas list).
